Add a commentShe's one of the nations favourite television personalities, having charmed us every morning for the last ten years with her wicked sense of humour and compassion. Today Fern Britton presented her final episode of This Morning.
It was a special episode which saw major stars honour the Queen of Daytime television. Co-presenter Philip Schofield led the way with a hilarious and often emotional show which included appearances from John Barrowman, Michael Ball, Matthew Kelly and Christopher Biggins, with recorded tributes from Danny Dyer, Paul O'Grady, Bradly Walsh, Lionel Richie, Alice Cooper, David Walliams, Jason Donovan, Alan Carr, Chris Moyles and the cast of Coronation Street. The entire This Morning team gathered around the famous sofa to recount their favourite moments with her funniest moments played throughout the show.
Phil has called me “Minty… It rhymes with ‘hinge'.. ever since!”
Famed for her mischievous sense of humour, Fern took pleasure in revealing Schofield's special nickname for her. Recounting the day she was at home making a cup of tea for her husband, she described how she knocked a jar of mint sauce onto the floor which smashed and resulted in mint sauce splashing up her nightie. “Phil has called me “Minty… It rhymes with ‘hinge'.. ever since!” The studio then erupted with laughter.
You have given me the best six years… we've had a ball, and good luck.
The award-winning presenter managed to hold back the tears for most of the show, but in the final moments it was just too much as she gave her final speech. “Thank you to everyone, thank you so much.”
Finally Fern turned to Schofield and hugged him. “You have given me the best six years… we've had a ball, and good luck.”
Michael Ball completed the send-off with a special version of “Life is a Cabaret” to raputous applause.
