Video blog: Actor Expo success for The Drama Student
The Drama Student Magazine had a very successful day at the Actor Expo tradeshow, held at Goldsmith’s University on Saturday 3rd October.
Phil Matthews (Editor), Fabio Marcolini (Art Director) and Paul McGuire (Event Assistant)The team working the stand were made up of Editor Phil Matthews, Art Director Fabio Marcolini and Assistant Paul McGuire (pictured left to right above). Footfall was particularly high in the first three hours as the team met existing readers and introduced the publication to those who were not yet familiar with the magazine.
This year’s tradeshow has been bigger and better, and it’s been a pleasure meeting our readers and introducing the mag to new readers
Editor Phil Matthews explained that it was an exciting day: “We visited the Actor Expo last year as visitors, and we knew then that we wanted to be involved this year when we launched the magazine properly. This year’s tradeshow has been bigger and better, and it’s been a pleasure meeting our readers and introducing the mag to new readers.”

The team gave out thousands of free copies of all four issues and the response was huge. “Young actors and students would take the magazines and word obviously got around the building, as they were sending their friends to see us,” says Matthews.
Art Director Fabio Marcolini agreed: “We were surprised with the amount of people who came looking for The Drama Student in the ActorExpo. It was great to meet new people, show the magazine to those who haven’t seen it before and receive feedback on how the magazine has helped students and even professional actors.”Matthews added: “It’s fantastic to hear that the publication is helping people, and entertaining them at the same time. An existing subscriber came up to us and literally shook our hand for a minute, thanking us so much for starting the magazine.
“That’s the biggest reward for everyone involved, that sort of feedback.”
